Nutrition For a Fit Lifestyle

The three most important ingredients for being fit are exercise, rest and nutrition. This site has always focused on exercise. Rest is the time between exercise sessions. Other than telling you to get your rest, not much we can help with that. As for nutrition, it's so important and so much to learn about it. To help you achieve an enjoyable lifetime of fitness, we're adding this nutrition section to our website.

NutriBullet

Review: From my experience, the greatest nutritional invention in the 21st century is the NutriBullet. Although I like fruit and tolerate vegetables, eating enough of them has always been a chore. I always thought it would be great to just drink them. I've tried all types of blenders and food processers. At best, the test was bareable. But cleaning the equipment was such a pain, they never got used.

Then I bought a NutriBullet. The taste from my first smoothy was unbelievable. Following are some of my favorite recipes. When you look at the ingrediants, you won't believe I consider these desserts. But when you try them, you will too. I don't have names for these, so I'll just number them. These are just some ideas. Give them a try and experiment for yourself.

Recipes:
  - handful of spinach, 1 banana, cantaloupe and honeydew up to near top of cup, milk to fill line
  - handful of spinach, 1 banana, strawberries, pineapples and mangos up to near top of cup, milk to fill line
  - 1 banana, strawberries, pineapples and mangos up to near top of cup, teaspoon of nutella, milk to fill line
  - 1 banana, cantaloupe and honeydew up to near top of cup, teaspoon of peanut butter, milk to fill line

Suggestions: To make a refreshing drink, make sure the fruit is cold. To make the drink thick like a smoothy, freeze the banana. For soft ice cream, use frozen fruit and frozen banana. (You may need to defrost the banana and fruit a little in a microwave so it can be blended.)
